The latest rendering-based architecture, running on either PC or MAC hardware, provides the core capability of StudioRIP to convert in real time any content in the workflow to the required format for display, proofing, digital printing or plate and film production.

Customizable hybrid screening – The operator can specify the minimum and maximum printable dot size.
Flexo hybrid screening – Smooth AM-FM transition by slihgtly shifting the screen dot centers in order to achieve a stocastic structure in the AM screen, useful for flexo where the quality of the highlights is critical.
Smooth, pattern free halftones – Filters out the possible patterns caused by dot gain.
4096 shades of grey – Smooth gradients even in low dpi and high lpi conditions.
Colour precision – A low-pass filtering system smooths dot gain spikes, offering perfectly linear behavior after calibration.

StudioRIP provides the ability to create very accurate color proofs to a variety of modern proofing devices. Different users need different types of proofs, and StudioRIP gives them the proof for their needs with three types of proofing modes available:Contone Proofing ModeStudioRIP will create highly accurate color managed proofs typically with average ∆E of 0.6-0.8. Using the variable dot sizes of typical proofers smooth output is guaranteed even on 720 dpi.
The system can be configured to emulate different press standard by use of selectable or custom installed ICC profiles.
This mode can also be used for POS and posters. Halftone Proofing ModeFor customers requiring real halftones in their proofs rather than a printer based contone screening, the halftone proof mode allows proofing to be set up to match a configuration for CTP/CTF allowing specific lpi, angles and trapping to be proofed.
Raster Proof ModeUsing the same data for your CTP (ROOM proofing), raster proof can quickly – with 2 mouse clicks or even automatically – produce 100% data integral proofs with real halftones. This ensures that what you see on the proof is the same content that you get on the press.
Other Features:Format flexibility – Proofs can be of specific separations, pages or impositions, as well as progressive (e.g. both the C+M and C+M+Y+K proofs of a process color job printed for for two-color presses).
Fully integrated – Proofing is integral to StudioRIP, meaning that proofing jobs can all be viewed, imposed and controlled directly in the RIP. Creating proofing configurations is easy using the built-in wizards. No external color management software or license is required to make new configurations.
Open licensing – The proofing license allows access to all supported devices. If you upgrade your proofer, you don’t have to upgrade you license. The license also allows for multiple proofers to be installed.
Proof Check – Proofers can be checked for color accuracy using the Proof test wizard tool, which tests the output for colour accuracy, gives average ∆E readings, and will pass or fail for color accuracy.

Custom Angles – Angles can be fully customized via the angle editor, allowing custom angles to be set. Specific Spot colors can be assigned their own angles or spot colors can be dynamically assigned angles which will not clash.
Dot shapes – For gravure based printing special gravure dot shapes are available.
Hybrid Screening – Hybrid Screening comes as standard with ability to select a dot size to be used, and reducing the numbers of dots to give a perceived tonal range across the board.

Shifted Hybrid – As well as standard Hybrid screening, StudioRIP offers Shifted Flexo Screening. This flexo optimized screening allows for smoother transition between AM and FM.
Pillar Dots – With Pillar Dot screening, very small highlight dots are protected from falling over and becoming scum dots by larger dots which act as a pillar in a similar way to bearer bars.
Post Processing
Ink Spread compensation – While the calibration works well on press in reducing dot gain on halftone objects, it has little effect on objects such as line work and especially reversed-out text. The ink spread tool compensates for the gain on press on solid (vector) objects by choking them before printing, so that the printed object will have its intended original size/thickness.
Dot chunk removal – Using a defined size in the number of pixels, the RIP will scan the ripped pages and remove undersized chunks of pixels, eliminating the chance of scum dots.
Texture – Increasing the ink density on the substrate during printing is possible with the texture feature inside the RIP. On solid areas and within halftone dots instead of having a flat top, a light texture is applied which results in the surface of the dot attracting more ink, which is subsequently transferred to the substrate.

Dispro – Distortion can be added as a value in the job style, or can be calculated using the built in tool provided by entering the cylinder information and plate details.

Seamless – Suitable for making Flexo and Gravure sleeves.

Lower Screen Limit – The smallest halftone dot size to be printed can be selected to avoid scum dots from being formed.

Powerful Viewer – The integrated viewer allows viewing of single separations, multiple colors or all colors of a job right down to pixel level. The Dot % viewer allows users to see the color mix on any part of the job.

Multi Screening compatible – The RIP will manage multi screening inside a PS or PDF job. In addition the RIP allows setting to override the inherent screening, for example turning a part of the job set to 100LPI to FM screening.

Bearer Bars – Bearer bars can be added easily to jobs; these can be customised and be configured to user needs.

Device Support – StudioRIP drives all leading Flexo CTP machines but also can utilize Epson printers to create Flexo films.
